The Petworth Youth Chorus is a new and exciting four-part, non-audition choir, based in Petworth, open to all in school year five up to school leavers.
Our ambition is to be fun, inclusive and to share the joy of choral music with as many young people as possible, inspiring the broadest possible audience. We will tackle a wide range of repertoire from classical, musical theatre and pop focusing on the joy of singing, whilst educating and supporting young singers to feel the excitement and reward from being part of a musical team.
Concerts will be at Christmas and in the Summer, with the hope being to add more opportunities as the choir grows. The Youth Chorus will perform independently and alongside, the already well-established adult choir, The Petworth Chorus.
A message from our Choral Director
I began singing at a young age and have truly had some of my best life experiences and opportunities singing in choirs and groups. My journey has taken me all over the world and I have made lifelong friends over the years. Singing is one of the great joys in life and it is only made better by sharing it with friends.
We are very excited to be starting out on this musical journey and hope that you will join us to be a part of it.

Both our Choral Director, Tom Colwell, and accompanist, Kate Payne, are experienced choir leaders and musicians with a wealth of professional experience. Please see the home page for more information on them. They both work in local schools and have enhanced DBS checks. Any other staff helping in rehearsals will also have current DBS certificates.
Rehearsals will be held, during term time, every Wednesday in Herbert Shiner School in Petworth from 6.00 – 7.00.
There is a termly subscription of £30 - full bursaries are available for those for whom the subscription presents a difficulty.
