This is the ensemble rehearsal track of the Pearl & Dean advertising ident we’ve all heard for nearly 60 years. When it’s been proof-listened the score and the sectional rehearsal tracks will go up.

02-May-2024 11:15 – Both Sides Now rehearsal tracks minor updates

These updates to the Both Sides Now rehearsal tracks are fairly minor. The sound is hopefully a little nicer and the pause at the end has been added.

29-Apr-2024 08:30 – From Now On rehearsal tracks updated and corrected

To make practice easier, the sectional rehearsal tracks (MP3s) for From Now On have been slowed down a little more. The ensemble performance however, is closer to the marked tempo.

AND there were a couple of missing notes around bar 72, in the bass and tenor rehearsal tracks (MP3s) for From Now On.

24-Apr-2024 16:30 – Fascinating Rhythm rehearsal tracks updated

To make practice easier and more productive, the sectional rehearsal tracks of Fascinating Rythm have been slowed down. The Ensemble track, however, is still at performance speed.

23-Apr-2024 15:30 – Wizard Of Oz rehearsal tracks corrected

A key change (at bar 183) was overlooked in The Wizard Of Oz Medley and the following section carried on in four flats instead of in C, completely ruining the mood of the section. Now corrected, hopefully; and uploaded.

22-Apr-2024 16:00 – Confutatis rehearsal tracks updated

A couple of trivial errors corrected. Better sound quality is the main change.

19-Apr-2024 15:45 – Wizard Of Oz rehearsal tracks updated

The “choir” is now singing “dee dee” instead of “ah”. The many repeated notes still don’t sound great (the “machine gunning” referred to in the User Notes) but I think it sounds better. The file links are back in the Current Repertoite page.

18-Apr-2024 – Wizard Of Oz rehearsal tracks suspended

The “machine gunning” referred to in the User Notes sounded too awful. The files are withdrawn for a day to experiment with a different vocalization.

The score (PDF) for Wizard Of Oz Medley has been added to the Current Repertoire page. It’s an odd paper size, which I can normally correct to A4, but this PDF can’t be changed. If you can, when you print, select scale to page; maybe try just a couple of pages first (it’s quite a long score).

There are very few YouTube videos with Emerson’s arrangement for SATB. This is the best I found. I think they get bar 43 right. Let me know if you diagree.

05-Mar-2024 09:00 – Sanctus score updated (now ver. 1.5)

A lyric amendment to the Sanctus (MIssa Luba) score (PDF) by Tom: near the beginning, sing “Dominus” rather than “Domisus”. Reprint if you like or stick with your own annotation.

04-Mar-2024 15:30 – Sanctus score updated (now ver. 1.4)

In the score (PDF) for Sanctus (MIssa Luba) a missing syllable at the end has been corrected. And there were a few misleading slurs which have been clarified. A couple of Tom’s favourites – syllables ending in ‘s’ – have been given an indication that the ‘s’ should be at the end of the held note.

The soprano and alto rehearsal tracks for Both Sides Now had mistakes which have now been corrected. The opening should have been in unison; and the sopranaos had a wrong note in bar 31.

Some mistakes in the rehearsal tracks (MP3s) for Both Sides Now have been corrected. The piano had some wrong notes and the bass had some missing accidentals.

16-Feb-2024 12:00 – May It Be rehearsal tracks updated

A couple of mistakes in the rehearsal tracks (MP3s) for May It Be have been corrected. The tenor rhythm in bar 41 had mis-scanned and there were a couple of missing ties in the tenor and bass parts of bar 14.

06-Feb-2024 12:00 – Revised Moon River score added

The original score for Moon River was a bit odd. Tom has altered a few things. Most changes were at the bottom of the first page. Also the second ending, after the repeat, was changed. And a missing word or two were added. At the moment I’m hoping someone will review the changes, which means that there might be more changes.

Please do have a look if you can; but beware that the score might change again.

The audio (MP3) rehearsal tracks for Skyfall have been updated. There were many ties that had scanned as slurs. Hopefully these have all been corrected. And mostly for fun, the Ensemble performance has had the opening Bond chord added. Rehearsal tracks are the last section in the Current Repertoire page.

01-Feb-2024 12:00 – Fascinating Rhythm rehearsal tracks updated

The audio (MP3) rehearsal tracks for Moon River have been updated. The fp (forte-piano) at bar 87 has been added. It’s not perfect but it might act as a reminder. (In “rhy-thm”, you start the “-thm” syllable forte, then quickly drop to piano and then crescendo to the end of the bar.)

It’s not there in the left-ear (your) part, but it is there in the right-ear parts. And all the sections are doing it in the Ensemble performance.

The audio (MP3) rehearsal tracks for Moon River have been updated. Tom made some changes around bars 12 to 15. Bar 12 was a mess in the original score; so dotted notes have gone and been replaced by simple crochets. Quavers have been added in the tenor and bass in 15.

The audio practice files (MP3s) for Sanctus have been added to the Current Repertoire page. Each section has divisi so there are eight sectional files. Soprano 1, Soprano 2, etc.

13-Jan-2024 11:45 – Revised Sanctus score uploaded

A revised version of the Sanctus score has been uploaded to the Current Repertoire page. The key of Sanctus has changed from D down a tone to C. Unless you have absolute pitch or practise at the piano, you don't really need to print again unless you want to. Basses might have a bit more incentive to re-print as the unusual clef of the previous score version has been changed to the more common bass clef.

And the key is still fluid and might change again.
